Chairman of CHC- Egypt explores investments and collaboration opportunities with Qatar Organizations
The Chairman of the General Authority for Construction and Housing Cooperatives (CHC) and the secretary general of the Africa Ministerial Cooperative Council, Major General Engineer Waleed Elbarody recently has taken part in the introductory workshop of the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) in Qatar during the period from 18th -21st of September 2023.
The primary objective of the visit was to explore collaboration opportunities with Qatar and to attract investments and support partnerships between Egypt and Qatar.
Through this workshop, a presentation was given about Tarboul Industrial City along with other CHC cooperative housing projects with a focus on implementing GSAS in CHC- Egypt. Discussions also delved into the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism and how GSAS plays a pivotal role in certification as a carbon reduction verifier using the International Green Mark – an ecolabelling system for products and building materials. This discussion highlighted the importance of sustainability in reducing carbon emissions using ecologically responsible management products.
Mg. Eng. Waleed Elbarody has stated that there would be collaborations with the Gulf Organisation for Research & Development (GORD) in order to find out collaboration ways with CHC Egypt in order to implement the GSAS on Tarboul Industrial City along with other cooperative housing projects. He also pointed out that there would be coordination with GCC in order to implement the carbon capture program.
The visit laid a solid foundation for enhancing a meaningful partnership in the realm of sustainable housing and urban development between CHC Egypt and GORD in order to achieve the 2030 UN SDGs and Egypt’s vision 2030.
