The 2nd International Conference for Cooperative Housing (ICCH,16)
Under the patronage of His Excellency Eng. Sherif Ismail, Prime Minister, and His Excellency Dr. Eng. Engineer Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities of the Arab Republic of Egypt, The General Authority for Construction and Housing Cooperatives organized its second international conference for cooperative housing under the title “The role of housing in achieving an integrated cooperative system” during the period from 12th to 14th of December 2016. The conference reflects the global interest in the importance of integrating various cooperative activities in order to establish Modern societies that provide adequate housing, cultural services, economic components, and job opportunities in the same location.
The conference was held over three days. The first day included two general discussion sessions, however the second and third days included 17 technical sessions in parallel. On the sidelines of the conference, coordination meetings were held with some Arab and African countries to discuss Memorandums of understanding and cooperation protocols have been developed to exchange cooperative experiences and are being reviewed by the relevant authorities. About 1,200 participants from 35 countries and international, regional and local organizations participated in the conference including Spain, Jordan, Czechia, Algeria, Sudan, China, Kuwait, Morocco, Germany, India, Bonan, England, Togo, Tunisia, Gambia, Djibouti, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Oman, Singapore, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Croatia, Canada, Kenya, Lebanon, Libya, Malaysia, Madagascar, Mauritius, Egypt, International Cooperative Alliance, International Cooperative Alliance- Africa, Asian Cooperative Alliance, Economic and Social Committee for West Asian countries at the United Nations (ESCWA) along with the Comprehensive Solution Program Organization in the Gambia, the National Cooperative Movement Organization in Malaysia.
